PLANTING FOR A GREENER PAKISTAN

Overview

Become a Green Guardian by participating in our contest designed to help combat climate change through thoughtful planting. This challenge invites individuals, families, and communities to research, select, and plant the best species of trees and plants for Pakistan’s environment. The goal is to promote sustainable greenery that can thrive in local conditions while mitigating the impacts of climate change

How to Participate

1. Select Your Planting Project:

  • Research & Choose Plants: Start by researching which plants and trees are most effective in combating climate change within Pakistan. Consider factors like water requirements, ability to improve air quality, and support for local biodiversity. Look for native species that are drought-resistant, absorb carbon effectively, and provide shade or other environmental benefits.
  • Identify Suitable Plants: Start by researching which plants and trees are most effective in combating climate change within Pakistan. Consider factors like water requirements, ability to improve air quality, and support for local biodiversity. Look for native species that are drought-resistant, absorb carbon effectively, and provide shade or other environmental benefits.
  • Creative Planting Ideas: Think outside the box! Consider urban gardens, vertical gardens, community green spaces, or repurposing unused areas for planting. Your project can be as small as a windowsill herb garden or as large as a community tree-planting event.

Plan and Execute Your Plantation:

  • Prepare Your Space: Choose a location for your planting project, whether it’s your backyard, a balcony, a schoolyard, or a public space. Ensure the area is prepared and suitable for the plants you’ve chosen.
  • Engage Your Community: Involve friends, family, or neighbors in your project. You can organize a planting day or start a neighborhood initiative to plant trees and greenery.

Document Your Planting Journey:

  • Record the Process: Create a video (2-5 minutes) documenting your plantation project. Show the planning phase, the planting process, and the final results. Include tips on plant care, the environmental benefits of your chosen plants, and the impact your project will have on the local ecosystem.
  • Share Your Story: Explain why you selected specific plants and how your project contributes to combating climate change. Highlight the long-term benefits of increasing green spaces and the role of plants in improving air quality and reducing carbon footprints.

2. Submit and Share:

  • Eligibility: Open to all residents of Pakistan, including students, professionals, and creative enthusiasts.
  • Format: Videos should be 2-5 mins and in MP4 format with a minimum resolution of 720p.
